02/12/03 This is sort of the story of my life. Well, it used to be the story of my life but now it's ...also the story of my life. For the longest time I wasn't paying any attention to the world. Opportunities would pass me by because I simply wasn't looking. Looking back on my life, I can see how much I've missed (or might have missed) simply through inattention. Now I'm paying more attention to the world around me and I find that opportunities present themselves less often. This could be an illusion of sorts caused by the fact that I'm agonizing over the interval at which opportunities appear or it could have something to do with the very nature of opportunities, as if they're driven away by observation. I don't know. All I know is that now that I pay more attention to the world around me I'm desperately trying to regain my old obliviousness.
